In Maine, during the month of May, the temperatures vary from low of 37 degrees to a high of around 65 degrees. The month of October the temperatures vary from a low of about 53 degrees to a high of around 72 degrees. But, all of us living in Maine know there is not really a normal temperature, blink your eyes and that can change. That said unless you like the cold, outdoor kitchen usage will probably be 6 months. Most people want to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible due to the short summer and the long cold winters. With only a limited number of warm days in Maine, you should be able to enjoy the outdoors with a beautiful outdoor patio and kitchen.
Having an outside patio without the kitchen means you are continually hauling food and supplies out from the kitchen. With all the enjoyment of eating outside comes the hassle of running back and forth from inside the house to the outside. If cooking outside with all the essentials readily available makes more sense, then you might want to consider talking to Joe at Defining Lines Landscape about building an outdoor kitchen.
The first thing that comes to mind, of course, is can you afford to have a nice outdoor kitchen. We can work closely with you and review options for an affordable but durable built-in outdoor kitchen. An outdoor kitchen is much like renovating an indoor kitchen of course cost varies according to the materials and appliances you want. Another option is to build a beautiful patio and create space for the grill, refrigeration/cooler, a tiered cart, and a surface for preparation. We have built outdoor patios of all types, very elaborate, fancy outdoor kitchens and some that are much simpler, but they all are unique and gorgeous.

Spring Maintenance
Spring has finally sprung! 🌷 If you are looking to get your yard in tip-top shape for the warm weather months, we recommend a few maintenance tips. The first one is to start fresh. This means clearing out snow, leaves, sticks, branches, pinecones, and debris that accumulated over the fall and winter months. Re-edge your gardens and flower beds as well as your lawn. This will give everything clean, defined lines and designated spaces. Repair the damage. Some areas may require a little extra TLC. Fertilization and reseeding will help grass grow in thick and beautiful where it may not have due to damage. Hardscapes such as retaining walls, patios, and pathways will also need maintenance due to the toll that winter took on them. Let's not forget about the multiple Nor'easters that we received in a row this year. Also remember that with warm weather, comes pests. There are several steps that can be taken to deter them from your property. To give your yard the best curb appeal and keep it healthy and thriving, it is always best to hire a professional and save yourself the trouble.

Fall Maintenance
A healthy, beautiful property requires maintenance all year round. Here in the state of Maine, we know that Fall months require maintenance because of all of those red, yellow, and orange leaves falling off of our trees and covering our yard. We also know that fall means that winter is right around the corner, and winter tends to bring very cold temperatures and lots (and lots) of snow. 😰 This can reek havoc on our trees, bushes, and landscaping. So, what should you do this fall to maintain your property? Here are some of the things that we recommend.
- Shrub trimming
- Tree pruning
- Fall cleanup (rake those leaves)
- Clean your gutters
- Apply winter fertilizes
- Cut dead leaves and stems from perennials
- Aerate your lawn
- Protect your plants from rodents by wrapping them in mesh cloth
Remember that any maintenance, if done incorrectly, will only do harm to your property. Consider hiring a professional with the proper equipment, knowledge, and experience.
